The Washington Based Chain of Floatation Spas is Expected to Experience Large Franchise Expansion This Year.

Urban Float is expecting to experience large franchise expansion by adding new locations in Houston in addition to the company’s soon-to-be five locations in Washington. The spas feature light- and sound-controlled pods filled with 200 gallons of water and more than 1,200 pounds of Epsom salt.

There are currently four Urban Float locations in the Washington area including Fremont, Renton, Kirkland, and Vancouver but the company plans to add its largest location, 4,000 square feet featuring nine pods, early this year.

There are also two different franchisees in Houston planning to open a total of six Urban Float locations, with two scheduled to open this summer.

Urban Float was co-founded in 2012 by Carnation resident Joe Beaudry. Beaudry initially became interested in float tanks when researching different ways to de-stress. At the time he could not find any and ended up contacting a man who had one in his home. Beaudry called the man up, went to his house and floated. After the experience he said, “I loved it. … Driving home, I just felt super calm, mentally clear, everything seemed brighter.”

Since then the industry has grown immensely and become extremely profitable. Urban Float brought in 1.3 million in revenue last year alone.
